DANCE MINISTRY (D.M.)
Mission Statement
Through prayer and guidance from God we will: Teach dance in its purest form. Choreograph dances for God’s eyes and glory. Praise Him as we humbly dance with a pure heart, as a form of worship, service, fellowship, and outreach.
Key Scriptures
Eccl. 3:4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance...
2Sam. 6:14 David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might...
Psa. 30:11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy...
Psa. 149:3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp.
Jer. 31:13 Then maidens will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.
Vision Outline
Our vision is to create a Dance Ministry where individuals can learn to dance and perform from the heart---- for the Lord! We want to allow God to move people’s souls as we teach them to move their feet. We believe through prayer, positive reinforcement, Christian music, and fun methods, dance can be taught and performed as a way to, praise our Heavenly Father, enhance our walk with Him, share His message with non-believers and fellowship with other believers.
Many forms of dance can be used to glorify God including: Character, Ballet, Lyrical, and Jazz/Hip Hop. Character is a style where the dancer imitates or becomes an actual character within the lyrics and dances out his or her story. Lyrical is a contemporary style of dance that combines ballet and jazz techniques with personal emotion. Jazz/Hip Hop is a blend, which results in a fast-paced, contemporary form of praise.
Performances opportunities will include not only the Adventure but other places as well. In order to minister at our full potential will venture away from the Adventure, to other churches, community functions, hopefully even special guest performances at studio dance recitals and competitions!
Dance is a Universal language and there is no doubt that in the Lord’s hands performances, even to non-English speaking communities, nationally and over-seas, can have great success for Him.
Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed.”
In preparation for performing for Him...
Dancers will learn that their bodies are unique and awesome and a very important gift from God. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. “ They will learn to respect other people’s bodies as well as their own, and how to care for those bodies, keeping them healthy and energized.
Dancers will learn, through the Bible, that dance is a way to use the gift of their bodies as a form of worship and ministry, Psalm 149:3 “Let them praise his name with dancing,..” and that the ability to dance is a talent, a special gift from God. Scripture?
Through prayer, positive reinforcement, Christian music, fun methods, and a commitment to do their best for Him, individuals will learn how to dance. They will learn proper technique, terminology, how to safely stretch, and, eventually, performance routines. They will learn to dance from their heart for the Lord. Enhancing their walk with Him, and growing in faith with fellow Christians. With a commitment to rehearsal and practice at home, they will earn the opportunities to perform for God and His people.
